Lockdown hasn't stopped our movement!

Lockdown hasn't stopped our movement!

Lockdown might have stopped us getting outside and training like usual, but it certainly hasn’t stopped us from keeping active and learning more about looking after our physical and mental wellbeing. More than 300 of you took part in Lockdown Squad & Half Term Squad and many of you brought along your family members to get involved too. A special well done to all the mums, dads, brothers, sisters and everyone else who joined in with our virtual workouts! Over the lockdown we were joined by a whole host of international players and legends of the game covering a huge variety of topics. From S&C to speed, and from confidence building & athlete psychology to nutrition, we’ve used lockdown as an opportunity to grow as players and people, and to find out more about being a woman in sport. Here’s a quick recap of what we got up to:

Lockdown Squad 1.0

We were joined by Rachael Burford for a session on skills and fitness, Celia Quansah for a session on speed and Rocky Clark for a killer circuits workout!

Lockdown Squad 2.0

We were joined by even more rugby stars! Leanne Riley led a strength & conditioning session and then the following week Jess Breach helped us learn more about speed and agility. School of Kicking’s Tony Yapp and Freddie Gabbitass joined us for a skills-based session before School of Calisthenics led a session focussing on core, mobility and breathwork. To finish up, Girls Rugby Club Founder Rachael Burford joined us for a skills and fitness workout.

Half Term Squad

Not wanting lockdown to get the better of us in Half Term, we covered a whole range of topics for our final series of virtual workouts. We kicked off with brunch with Emily Scarratt on the Monday, before Jade Konkel put us through our paces with a tough fitness session on Tuesday. Wednesday’s session was a healthy cook along with Lauren Delany. We then turned some attention to building our confidence with Shaunagh Brown on Thursday, and finished with a session on psychology and attitude with Elinor Snowshill on Friday. If you'd like to catch up on any of these sessions just head to our YouTube channel. Be sure to hit subscribe to make sure you're the first to hear about any new videos.
We’re super excited to be able to see all of you in person at our upcoming camps, but just because we’re now able to resume face-to-face training, it doesn’t mean we’ll be abandoning our free player welfare series! So, keep your eyes out for our upcoming webinars and more special guests. Next up is Rugby, Bubs, & Return to Sport with Harlequin’s Davinia Catlin & The Well’s Baz Moffat on Wednesday 31st March.
