IMPACT Gumshields teams up with the Girls Rugby Club to save the smiles of female rugby players

IMPACT Gumshields, makers of the world’s first and only 3D-printed custom gumshields, has joined forces with the Girls Rugby Club to offer members industry-leading protection for their teeth. To celebrate the partnership, IMPACT Gumshields has created a limited edition Girls Rugby Club gumshield, with a percentage of every sale going towards its work to champion the women’s game. The team from IMPACT has worked closely with the Girls Rugby Club to come up with a bespoke design available exclusively to members, complete with the Girls Rugby Club unique logo and colours. Founded by semi-professional rugby player James Murphy, IMPACT Gumshields already counts the likes of Rob Kearney, James Lowe, Christian Lealiifano, Nemani Nadolo, Gary Ringrose, Cian Healy, James Ryan, Jordan Larmour, Kane Douglas and Rory O’Loughlin among its customers. It is also the official gumshield supplier to Leinster, Cornish Pirates and the RPI (Rugby Players Ireland), as well as supplying teams including Loughborough Lightning, Ulster, Connacht, Munster, and Fiji Rugby. Each gumshield is created using an intra-oral 3D scanning wand, just slightly larger than a normal toothbrush, to capture a 3D model of a player’s mouth in just two minutes. The scan is then used to print the gumshield. IMPACT provides a remote scanning service, meaning players can be scanned at their school or club, as well maintaining a secure database of mouth scans to make ordering a repeat quick and easy. The finished product provides up to 24% more protection than other custom-fit gumshields currently on the market, is 47% lighter and 54% more compact than the nearest competitor and is proven not to affect speech, breathing or performance. IMPACT Gumshields founder and director James Murphy said, “Having played rugby for many years myself I know that safety and protecting your body as best you can is hugely important, particularly when you’re young. You only get one set of teeth and we’re pleased to have a gumshield that helps to keep them protected while you’re playing. We’re excited to be partnering with the Girls Rugby Club and to be working with upcoming female rugby talent and some of the world’s top international players.” The Girls Rugby Club will be offering members the opportunity to have their mouth scanned at upcoming workshops and events, with the added option to have their initials printed on their gumshield. Girls Rugby Club founder Rachael Burford said, “It’s important that we partner with leading edge companies that have the best interests of our players in mind. As with much of the rugby equipment available on the market, it is created with boys and men in mind and is often ill-fitting, uncomfortable and just not appealing to girls. Gumshields can be the same and so we felt it was important to offer a great looking, custom solution for our members, but one that doesn’t break the bank. IMPACT Gumshields is a pioneer in protective-wear for rugby and is undoubtedly the best in the business. The evidence speaks for itself, Impact Gumshields offers the best protection available, which is why we believe they’re a fantastic fit for the Girls Rugby Club.” For more information on where you can get your mouth scanned, or to order your own IMPACT Gumshield, get in touch with us via our contact page.
